Healing Prayer
What do you do when you’re going through a trying time? Perhaps you just had a devastating breakup and feel emotionally drained. Or maybe you’re suffering from some sickness. How do you make yourself feel better?
Of course, there are scientific cures and remedies that help in such situations. You can exercise to get your dopamine production to accelerate after the end of a relationship, or meditate to find your calm. In times of sickness, you can even take medication.
Nobody is arguing the benefits of these methods to soothe your mind and body. But what about your soul?
Faith and spirituality cater to the needs of your soul. In times of distress, even those who do not practice faith turn to God for answers seeking help from a realm that is beyond their control.
The Bible is replete with such healing prayers which have illustrated in the past the divine generosity of God. Let’s look at a few of these.
A Prayer to Heal from Disease
The following prayer can be used to seek healing from sickness or disease from the powers that be, which defy comprehension. There is no guarantee that this prayer will work to alleviate your sickness completely, but when all else fails, there’s no harm in trying it out.

You healed those who had diseases. You died and rose for our sins and that we may have eternal life, Lord. I believe in my heart that You are here with us today and that with Your most holy power will remove all sicknesses and evils that roam the earth.
Let it be done in Your glory, Lord.

Prayer for Mental, Bodily and Spiritual Rejuvenation
The following prayer may be employed when one is feeling mentally and spiritually drained because of the ordeals they have to face in their temporal lives.
Often, the hurdles we face in our daily existence can leave us feeling extremely exhausted and in need of some healing. Use this prayer in times like those. It urges God to lend you the strength and power to withstand difficulties with grace and dignity.
It asks him to share his light of wisdom with you so you can identify your well-wishers and rely on them for a helping hand in times of need.
“Dear Lord, I come before You today in need of Your healing hand. In You all things are possible. Hold my heart within Yours, and renew my mind, body and soul. I am lost, but I come to You with grace. You gave us life, and You also give us the gift of infinite joy. Give me the strength to move forward on the path you’ve laid out for me. Guide me towards better health and give me the wisdom to identify those you’ve placed around me to help me get better. Amen.”
Do Healing Prayers Work?
Healing prayers may not work in a manner comprehensible to you. You won’t have God manifest in front of you and heal you of your suffering – it just doesn’t work that way. Instead, you may notice that things are beginning to fall in place in your life.
If you are suffering from a disease, maybe you will find yourself an experienced doctor who will possess good chances for curing you. The important thing here is to exercise faith. Healing prayers won’t work if you don’t believe in them.
Trust in God and his providence and your troubles will disappear gradually. He will hear your prayers if they are just and respectful. So hesitate no more and give them a try!
